Mob sets female student ablaze in Sokoto College of Education (Video)

A female student of Shehu Shagari College of Education in Wamako has been killed and her body burnt by her fellow students on campus.

The cause of the attack has not been officially revealed, but there are speculations that the lady was killed over blasphemy.

According to a student who witnessed the development, the student was immediately evacuated to the security post following threats to her safety. But the mob pursued her to the security post and overpowered the personnel there.

In a video that has since gone viral online, the lady was stoned to death and later set ablaze by the students.

Authorities have issued a statement announcing the immediate closure of the school over the incident.

In a statement signed by the Sokoto State Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Isah Bajini Galadanci, security agencies have commenced investigations into the matter.

The statement reads, It has come to the notice of the Sokoto State Government, the unfortunate incident that took place at the Shehu Shagari College of Education (SSCOE), Sokoto, in which a student of the college lost her life.

The government has ordered the immediate closure of the college”.

“Already, the state governor RT. Honorable Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has directed the Ministry of Higher Education, and relevant security agencies in the state to commence investigations into the remote and immediate causes of the incident and report back to the government”. The statement said.
