NAPTIP rescues 150 victims of human trafficking in Katsina
The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) in Katsina has rescued 150 victims of human trafficking in the state.
Musa Aliyu, the state commander, made this revelation while speaking to the press in his office.
According to him, the victims, comprising 115 females and 35 males, were rescued in April.
He added that the victims, aged between 18 and 38 years, were received from the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) Jibiya Border Command.
Upon investigation, it was revealed that all of the victims were indeed trafficked, with some recruiters located in the state of origin and the main suspects residing in the destination country.
The suspects have been identified and will be arraigned in court for prosecution, the Commander confirmed.
Furthermore, Aliyu urged parents and stakeholders to be cautious of the activities of human traffickers and strangers who deceive children with false promises.
He emphasized that victims of human trafficking are often used for organ harvesting, rituals, illicit stage shows, adultery, forced labor, and slavery.
