Nasarawa police arrest suspected Organ harvester, Rescue four victims
The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old man, Maro Ebojoh, over his alleged involvement in organ harvesting in the state. The arrest was announced on Tuesday by the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Mohammed, during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Lafia.
According to Mohammed, a distress call was received on Monday from the Alhaji Yahaya Sabo Motor Park in Bukan Sidi, Lafia, after motor park officials intercepted the suspect on suspicion of trafficking people for organ removal. The Divisional Police Officer of ‘B’ Division responded immediately, rescuing four victims who had been lured with promises of ₦2 million each for kidney donation.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Ebojoh arrived in Lafia on November 14 to recruit potential kidney donors. He allegedly targeted four men — Umar Ahmadu Barau, 25; Suleiman Alhaji-Garba, 20; Williams Dadung, 32; and Stanley Ezekiel, 27 — and took them for medical evaluation. One victim, who passed initial screening, was transported to Abuja for a transplant that was later aborted due to health complications. Police operatives tracked him to Abuja and rescued him unharmed.

The suspect confessed to receiving ₦500,000 out of an agreed ₦6.5 million fee from a client. He also admitted to successfully sourcing a donor for another client two months ago, for which he received ₦1 million while the donor was paid ₦2.5 million.
The police commissioner urged the public to remain cautious and wary of individuals who disguise illegal organ trade as legitimate donor recruitment.
In a separate operation, police raided a criminal hideout in Mararaba, Karu LGA, arresting nine suspects involved in armed robbery, phone theft, and fraudulent bank transfers. The suspects — aged between 18 and 29 — confessed to several night-time robberies, including a May 20 attack in Uke that resulted in the death of a police officer’s son.

All suspects are currently in custody, with investigations ongoing at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia. They will be charged
