NCS drives reforms, innovation with enhanced PR Strategy (Pictures)
The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) is set to leverage public relations strategies to enhance its policies and innovation, according to the Comptroller General of Customs, Mr. Bashir Adeniyi.
Speaking at the 2024 Public Relations Conference in Abuja, themed *”Navigating the Horizon: The Evolving Paradigm Shift in the Public Relations Activities of the Nigeria Customs Service,”* Adeniyi stressed the importance of using effective communication to align with the federal government’s objectives.
Adeniyi highlighted the ongoing partnership between the NCS and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), which aims to strengthen trade facilitation and accountability.

He emphasized the need for continuous innovation and capacity building within the Customs Service, especially in today’s technologically advanced world.
The National Public Relations Officer of NCS, Abdullahi Maiwada, also underscored the crucial role of public relations in driving the service’s goals of trade facilitation and revenue generation.
NIPR President, Dr. Ike Neliaku, praised the NCS for its commitment to the profession and announced the establishment of the Alex Akinyele Prize for Excellence, which will honor the best Public Relations Officer in the Service.
In support, the Director General of Voice of Nigeria, Jibrin Baba-Ndace, commended the NCS for its contributions to the economy and expressed readiness to broadcast the service’s success stories across multiple languages to enhance public compliance and understanding.
