10-year-old girl speaks 6 languages, awarded 13 British scholarship
Anne-Marie Osawemwenze Ore-Ofe Imafidon, MBE (b.1990) is one of the youngest to pass two GCSEs in two different subjects, Mathematics and Information Technology, at the age of 11.
At age 10, she could speak 6 languages. At 13, she received a British scholarship to study Mathematics at Johns Hopkins University. At 15, she was admitted to a degree program by the University of Oxford.
At 17, she started a master’s degree at Oxford University and, at 20, she became the youngest-ever graduate of the University with a Master’s degree.
At 24, Imafidon founded and became CEO of Stemettes, a social enterprise promoting women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) careers, and at 26, she was honoured with a Member of the British Empire (MBE) medal by Queen Elizabeth II in 2016.
The first primary school in Northern Nigeria
The first primary school in Northern Nigeria was founded in 1865 in Lokoja, present-day Kogi State, by Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther, and thus represented the beginnings of “Boko” learning and English literacy north of the Niger.
The school which is now named after Bishop Crowther stands on the grounds of Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Lokoja, Kogi State, and is still a working primary school, under the control of the state government.

The Politician who raced to the end
In 2003, Abubakar Audu contested to be governor of Kogi State but lost to the unknown Ibrahim Idris.
In 2007, he contested and lost again to the incumbent governor, Idris
In 2008, after the Supreme Court annulled the election that brought Idris into office, there was a fresh election in which Audu contested against Idris for the third time and lost again. In 2012, Audu contested again but lost to Idris Wada.
In 2015, Audu then contested against Wada and was winning the race when he suddenly died of a heart attack on November 22, 2015, before the results were finally announced by INEC which his party won.
Nigeria and Biafra’s 48-hour cease-fire to honor Pele
In 1969, when Edson Arantes do Nascimento (Pele) and his Santos team came to Nigeria for a charity match during the civil war, the two warring sides, Nigeria and Biafra, declared a ceasefire for 48 hours.
