New Era For Kannywood: Abba Al-Mustapha to transform film industry in Kano

Story from Saleh INUWA, Kano

Abba Al-Mustapha, the newly appointed director of the Films and Censorship Board in Kano, has vowed to revitalize the industry and ensure that its members reap maximum benefits from its services.

During a press conference held in Kano, Abba, a long-standing member of the Kano Entertainment industry, expressed his determination to reverse the industry’s decline under previous governments, which had led to neglect.

“I will change that for the better,” he declared.

With nearly two decades of experience in the Hausa Film Industry and a prominent role as a producer and dancer in Kannywood, Abba’s appointment as head of the board was received with open minds by industry members. He is widely regarded as an actor with an open mind and a team player, constantly ranking among the industry’s top performers.

Abba highlighted his close ties to Governor Kabir Yusuf, having been associated with the Kwankwaso movement for a long time. He emphasized that his in-depth understanding of the industry and personal friendships with senior actors and directors would be instrumental in effecting positive change in Kannywood.

“I have been part of this industry for a long time and hold a master’s degree in Business Administration from BUK,” Abba proudly asserted.

“Being a native of Kano State, well-connected, and actively involved in politics, I am confident of gaining the cooperation of my fellow members. Together, we will conduct training and retraining programs, foster harmony, create employment opportunities, and collaborate with Nollywood and other entertainment industries. All we seek are your prayers,” Abba humbly expressed.

He is scheduled to assume office on Monday.

With Abba Al-Mustapha at the helm, Kano State Films and Censorship Board is set to embark on a new journey, promising a brighter and more prosperous future for Kannywood.
