Newcastle frustrate Arsenal’s Champions League dreams

Arsenal’s dreams of qualifying for the Champions League has once again been frustrated after losing 2-0 to Newcastle United Monday night in the English Premier League.

The Gunners needed a win to top Tottenham Hotspur in fourth but the Eddie Howe’s boys gave their visitors a run for their money.

Despite going into break 0-0 Newcastle showed more will and determination for a victory.

The first goal of the game came as an own goal after Joelinton powers down the left wing and plays a lovely ball to Callum Wilson, who tries to sweep it in from six yards out but it’s actually Ben White who sends it into his own net in the 55th minute.

The hosts sealed their victory in the 85th minute after a poor defending by Arsenal letting Callum Wilson through on goal. Aaron Ramsdale knocks the ball away from his feet but Bruno Guimaraes lets the loose ball and slams home from the edge of the box. Ben White tries to slide it off the line but fails.

Mikel Arteta’s side will have to pray for Spurs to lose Norwich City in the final weekend of the season and put on their best for a victory against Everton.
