NFF funds will be used for players’ welfare – Clubs

The NFF on Tuesday released a list of how it shared the $2m it got from FIFA, CAF, and sponsors across national teams, state associations, football clubs, and other partners.

Some chairmen of clubs in the Nigeria Professional Football League, who spoke with reporters, promised that the funds, when released, would not be channelled into other areas.

The NFF alloted $300,000 (N115,800,000) to the 20 NPFL clubs, with each club expected to receive $15,000 (N5,790,000).

Chairman of the Ondo State Football Agency, owners of Sunshine Stars, Tajudeen Akinyemi, said, “Just like they said, it’s a form of palliative, so it will go to the players and the (technical) crew.

“We can’t misuse it, we don’t use money differently from what it’s earmarked for, we must use it exactly for what they asked us to use it for.”
Warri Wolves Chairman, Moses Etu, also told newsmen “They said it’s meant for players and we are going to use it for that purpose.

“When it comes, we will report to the ministry and let them know the NFF has sent us a certain amount of money and have told us to use it for the players and definitely, we are going to use it for that purpose.”
