A Nigerian footballer, Chieme Martins, has died after collapsing during a Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) game.
The victim, who plied his trade with Nasarawa United, allegedly collapsed after colliding with a Katsina United player during a league game yesterday.
Although medics frantically attended to him on the field, Martins gave up the ghost soon after.
Unconfirmed reports say the player died while waiting to be conveyed to a hospital as a Peugeot 406 ambulance stationed at the stadium did not start.
His teammates wept uncontrollably after the news of his death was broken to them.
