Nigerian varsity initiates Courier Service for collection of certificates
The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) in Kwara State has introduced a convenient courier service for graduates to collect their certificates, signalling a shift to international best practices.
Mansur Alfanla, the Registrar of the university, announced the new initiative on Monday in Ilorin, describing it as a departure from the previous policy that prohibited third-party collections.
“This move will allow prospective collectors to receive their certificates through courier delivery,” he explained.
To use the courier service, individuals must submit the original statement of results, a court affidavit, an indemnity form, and a valid international passport for applicants residing abroad.

“For those who prefer physical collection, it has been arranged for collection to take place at the university from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., every Monday to Friday,” Alfanla added.
The initiative aims to provide convenience, especially for alumni and graduates living outside Nigeria.
In a memo dated December 18, the registrar advised all graduates to collect their certificates before January 17, 2025. The memo warned that those who fail to meet the deadline will be fined ₦3,000 per week for delayed collection.
