NNPC assures Nigerians of 30 days’ petrol supply despite fuel scarcity
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) has reassured Nigerians that there is an adequate supply of petrol, with enough for at least 30 days, amidst the current fuel scarcity and long queues experienced across the country.
The state-owned oil company made the clarification in a statement that was released on Thursday.
The statement also said that the shortage was due to reduced depot loadout in Apapa, Lagos, over the course of a few days, but that the root cause, which led to the shortage, has been addressed.
The statement read: “We assure all Nigerians that there is ample supply with sufficiency of at least 30 days”.
“NNPC Retail Ltd. notes the appearance of fuel queues in some parts of Lagos and a few other locations around the country”.
“Motorists are advised to desist from panic buying as distribution will normalise over the next couple of days”.
Despite the company’s reassurance, Nigerians continue to experience the negative impact of fuel scarcity, as they have to queue for long hours, often at the expense of work and other daily activities.
