NNPCL addresses fuel scarcity in Nigeria, pledges swift resolution

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has said that the ongoing fuel scarcity in the Federal Capital Territory, Lagos, and other parts of the country is as a result of distribution challenges.

In a statement released on Sunday by its spokesperson Olufemi Soneye, the company assured that it is taking significant steps to resolve these issues before midweek.

As fuel shortages continue to affect availability across the nation, NNPCL, the sole importer of petrol in Nigeria, emphasised its commitment to collaborating with stakeholders in the oil and gas sector to restore normalcy as swiftly as possible.

“The NNPC Ltd regrets the tightness in fuel supply witnessed in some parts of Lagos and the FCT (Federal Capital Territory), which is a result of distribution challenges.

“The company further urges motorists to shun panic buying as it is working round the clock with relevant stakeholders to restore normalcy,” it said.

However, the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory had warned filling stations against the illegal sale of petrol amid heightened fuel scarcity in the country.
