Nollywood loses veteran actor Columbus Irosanga
Another sorrowful moment has struck Nigeria’s Nollywood as veteran actor Columbus Irosanga has been confirmed dead.
The news of his passing was shared by his colleague, Hilda Dokubo, on Instagram on Thursday. She expressed her grief, saying, “There can’t be a shortage of angels in heaven that the few here are called home like this na! This one is heavy on Uniport Rivers State Nollywood. Our uncle Coli @colu_mbusirisoanga has gone to be with the Lord. Ikoli eh dein na mu.”
Irosanga, originally from Okrika, Rivers State, was a well-respected actor and television personality, famously known for portraying the role of a native doctor. He was also a senior lecturer in the Department of Theatre Arts at the University of Port Harcourt.
Tragically, his death occurred just a day after the passing of young actress Pat Ugwu, who died at the age of 35 on Wednesday. The news of Pat’s death was shared by her colleague, Emeka Okoye, on Instagram, accompanied by a funeral poster with details for her final farewell. Okoye mourned, “Rest in peace sis. Pat Ugwu. @patpat_ugwu so we no get to work again? Death whyooo? God please. Rest in peace PAT. May your soul rest in the bosom of the Lord.”
He also sent out a heartfelt plea for protection, saying, “God please protect all my colleagues, especially those I’m close to. This unusual death is frightening. I proclaim life to everyone close to me this 2025 in the precious blood of Jesus. Amen.”
