Nominal Roll: Gov. Buni approves extension for civil servants to submit Bio-Data

Story by Ibraheem EL-TAFSEER

The Yobe State Committee for the Generation of the Nominal Roll of Civil Servants has submitted its report to the Head of Service, Alhaji Tonga Betara Bularafa, revealing significant gaps in workforce verification.

The committee, chaired by the Permanent Secretary of the Public Service Office, Dr. Bukar Kilo, was mandated to verify staff records and ensure authenticity.

During the nine-month exercise, only 27,111 civil servants out of 32,140 complied with the verification process, leaving 5,029 employees yet to submit their Bio-Data forms.

Dr. Kilo recommended the establishment of a Verification Committee to address the discrepancies.

He stated that non-compliant staff must present original credentials, employment records, and six-month bank statements to validate their employment. Failure to comply will result in salary suspension.

“This measure is essential to ensure accuracy and transparency in the government’s workforce records,” Dr. Kilo stressed.

Receiving the report, Alhaji Tonga Betara Bularafa commended the committee for its efforts but noted unresolved issues requiring further investigation.

To address these challenges, Governor Mai Mala Buni has approved a two-month extension for civil servants to submit their Bio-Data.

“Civil servants should seize this opportunity, as failure to comply will attract severe consequences,” the Head of Service warned.

The extension is expected to allow the state government to finalise the nominal roll verification and ensure a more accurate civil service record.
