NYSC’s HIRD initiative in Kebbi provides free medical services

In a bid to contribute to the welfare of their host community, the Kebbi state National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has initiated a medical outreach in Fingila village, Dandi local government area.
The program, known as Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD), offers free medical services, diagnosis, and medications to rural residents.
Agatha Banki Okolo, the state coordinator, highlighted that the HIRD initiative is part of NYSC’s commitment to giving back to the host community.
She emphasized that the program not only aims to assist the less privileged but also intends to raise awareness that youth service extends beyond national duty to include humanitarian services.
Banki explained that the beneficiaries of this health initiative are individuals in rural areas who lack access to basic healthcare services or face financial constraints in meeting their health needs.

The medical outreach team comprises healthcare professionals such as doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and laboratory scientists who provide on-the-spot diagnosis for ailments like malaria, diabetes, and conduct blood pressure check-ups. Additionally, free medications are distributed to those in need.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the beneficiaries, Alhaji Ibrahim Gero, the village head of Fingila Gwade 11, thanked the NYSC members for their generous provision of free drugs and medical services.
He urged stakeholders and the public to support the program, acknowledging its significant impact on the community’s well-being.
