Ogun Judge alleges threat to life, flees official residence

Justice Olusola Oloyede of the Ota Division of Ogun State Judiciary has vacated his official residence at the Judges’ Quarters in Ota township due to insecurity and incessant threats to his life.

A family source told spokesmen that Justice Oloyede now resides in a rented apartment with three other tenants in the town.

Alternatively, the source added that the Judge often drives from his private residence in Abeokuta to Ota every day to carry out his official duties as a result of general insecurity and threats to his life.

The family member who pleaded for anonymity said that the official quarter allocated to the Judge is not fit for human habitation.

“His official apartment is not fit for the dwelling of a man in the temple of justice. It is a terrible place. There is no furniture, it is a dilapidated house, and the roof is leaking. The summary of it is that it is not good for the administration of justice,” the family source alleged.

Oloyede who was the Chief Registrar of the Ogun State Judiciary was appointed a Judge by former Governor Ibikunle Amosun in November 2018.

He was attacked by armed robbers at the Judges quarters on November 18, 2019.

Aside from being robbed, Oloyede also sustained serious injuries during the robbery attack.

The source regretted that all efforts by the Judge to get his official residence renovated by the state judiciary had dropped on deaf ears.
