Terrorist attack Kaduna wedding, kill 13, abduct several`
A tragic assault by armed bandits has left at least 13 wedding guests dead and several others abducted in Kahir village, located in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Police authorities have confirmed the incident, noting that investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the attack, including the exact number of those kidnapped.
According to a community leader, Musa Adamu, the attackers struck around 11:47 p.m. on Sunday. He said the gunmen, heavily armed and in large numbers, stormed the wedding venue and opened fire indiscriminately on guests gathered inside the hall.
Many victims sustained gunshot wounds and were rushed to the General Hospital in Kagarko, while those in critical condition were referred to medical facilities in Kaduna for further treatment.
Residents reported that the assailants operated for nearly an hour without resistance. During the ആക്രമ, they also looted nearby shops, carting away food items, provisions, and drugs from a local chemist.
Security agencies have since launched a manhunt to track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
Kaduna remains one of several North-West states battling persistent attacks by armed groups commonly referred to as bandits. Other affected states include Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, and Katsina.
In addition to banditry, another armed group known as Lakurawa has been linked to violent raids in parts of Kebbi and Sokoto, where they reportedly rustle livestock and impose levies on local communities.
Nigeria continues to face mounting security challenges in the northern region, with military operations yielding limited success. The crisis has also spilled into neighbouring countries such as Niger, Chad, and Cameroon, leading to regional efforts to curb the violence, though these collaborations have weakened in recent years.
