Kaduna court grants man time to settle marital dispute as wife seeks divorce

A Shari’a Court sitting in Magajin Gari, Kaduna, has granted a man, Ahmad Kazeem, time to amicably resolve his marital dispute with his wife, Jamilat Abdullahi.

Jamilat, who filed for divorce, told the court she was no longer interested in the marriage and expressed her willingness to refund the ₦10,000 dowry paid on her, in line with Islamic provisions.

During the court session, Kazeem appealed for time to settle the matter peacefully, indicating his interest in resolving the disagreement outside immediate dissolution.

The presiding judge subsequently granted his request, urging both parties to explore reconciliation and report back to the court on the progress made.

The case highlights the role of Shari’a courts in handling matrimonial disputes, where mediation and reconciliation are often prioritized before final rulings are made.

Proceedings were adjourned to allow both parties attempt an amicable resolution.
