Ousted Gabonese president calls supporters to make noise over last night’s coup (Video)

Ousted President Ali Bongo has called on his friends and supporters to make noise following his house arrest on Wednesday.

Neptune Prime had earlier reported that the military took over power from President Bongo in the early hours of Wednesday, making it the latest coup after the July 26 coup in Niger.

In a video making the round on social media, Bongo was heard saying, “My name is Ali Bongo Ondimba, President of Gabon. I am sending a message to all friends that we have all over the world, to tell them to make noise, to make noise.”

The military took over power after Saturday’s presidential election in the country where Bongo was declared winner by the electoral commission.

According to the commission, Bongo secured the needed two-thirds of the votes cast but that election was however annuled by the military.
