Oyo State govt closes FinRel Pharmacy Supermarket, Bakery for illegal vet services
The Oyo State government has taken action by sealing FinRel Pharmacy Supermarket and Bakery in Ibadan for multiple violations of key regulations, including the Oyo State Veterinary Practicing Premises Registration Regulation 2018, Oyo State Private Veterinary Premises and Veterinary Establishment law, 2017, and the Animal Diseases Control Act, 2022.
This decision was communicated through a press release signed by Prince Dotun Oyelade, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Oyo State.

During the sealing operation conducted in Ibadan on Monday, Barrister Olasunkanmi Olaleye, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, highlighted that FinRel was found to be operating an unregistered veterinary pharmacy and providing unauthorized Veterinary Clinical Services.
He emphasized that this not only violates established laws but also poses a potential risk to public health.
Speaking through Dr. AbdulRrazzaq Lawal, the Deputy Director (Monitoring), the Commissioner reiterated the government’s commitment to preventing disease outbreaks and ensuring the safety of citizens and their property.
He clarified that this action aims to maintain the integrity of veterinary services within the state, rather than targeting specific individuals.
Barrister Olasunkanmi emphasized, “Our surveillance revealed that the premises’ owner was operating an unlicensed veterinary pharmacy and offering Veterinary clinical services without proper registration with the Veterinary Council of Nigeria and Oyo State Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. This action is in clear violation of the law and includes the use of unapproved locations for the sale of Veterinary products and the treatment of sick animals, which could potentially expose the public to zoonotic diseases.”
The Commissioner made it clear that the Oyo State government will not tolerate any actions that endanger the public by facilitating the transmission of diseases from animals to humans.
He urged the public to support the government’s efforts to prevent disease outbreaks and also advised all unregistered veterinary premises to comply with the law.
