The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced plans to remove 17 lawmakers from the Rivers State House of Assembly who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Party officials stated that the lawmakers’ defection violates PDP’s constitution and disciplinary guidelines, adding that action is necessary to uphold party discipline and preserve the integrity of its legislative caucus in the state.

The PDP described the defections as a betrayal of the mandate given to the lawmakers by their constituents under the party’s platform, warning that similar acts would not be tolerated in other states.
Legal and procedural measures are reportedly being initiated to formalize the removal process, with the party urging members to remain loyal and committed to its ideals and objectives.
