PENGASSAN suspends strike after truce with Dangote
The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has suspended its three-day strike following a breakthrough in discussions with the management of Dangote Refinery.
The announcement was made on Wednesday during a press briefing, where union leaders confirmed the truce after a marathon negotiation session facilitated by the Office of the National Security Adviser.

PENGASSAN President, Festus Osifo, said the decision to suspend the strike came after both parties signed a binding agreement. He, however, cautioned the refinery’s management against reneging on the commitments reached.
“If the company fails to honour the agreement, we will not take it lightly,” Osifo declared, stressing that the union reserved the right to resume action if necessary.

The industrial dispute arose from the unionisation of workers at the refinery, a move which had created friction between staff and management in recent weeks.
The suspension of the strike has eased concerns about potential disruptions in oil and gas operations, which had already begun to affect supply across the sector.
