Governor Mutfwang announced his defection at a public event, where he said the move was driven by the need to work more closely with the federal government and attract greater development to Plateau State. He noted that the decision followed extensive consultations with political stakeholders, elders, and supporters across the state.

Leaders of the APC welcomed Mutfwang into the party, describing his defection as a significant boost to the party’s strength in the North-Central region and ahead of future electoral contests.
