PMB presents MFR award to Victor Osimhen in recognition of stellar football career

The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, and the General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, have extended their congratulations to Victor James Osimhen, the Super Eagles’ forward.

Osimhen has been honoured with the National Award of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) by President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR.

Osimhen’s name appeared as number 23 on the list of those conferred with the MFR, which was released on Sunday.

“This time, the football industry has received well-deserved recognition, and we commend our father, President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, for this. Osimhen’s award signifies that even as a football player, one can be honoured by their country for exceptional service and for representing the nation admirably abroad,” said Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau.

“We are immensely proud of Osimhen and his remarkable achievements with Napoli SC in Italy, as well as for the Super Eagles,” he added.

Dr. Mohammed Sanusi also expressed his admiration, saying, “Ever since Osimhen emerged as the record goalscorer in the FIFA U17 World Cup, he has consistently shown tremendous growth through hard work, dedication, and discipline. We believe that this award will inspire him to accomplish even more for the Super Eagles and to continue being a stellar ambassador for Nigerian football on the international stage.”

Osimhen has been a standout player for Napoli SC in Italy, playing a pivotal role in the team’s first Serie A title win in 33 years a few weeks ago.

On Sunday, he further displayed his prowess by scoring his 25th league goal of the season for the club.
