Police apprehend 2 men for raping 12-year-old girl in Yobe
Yobe State Police Command has arrested two suspected rapists, Bawa Sa’idu and Weti Saleh both from Jalingo village of Tarmuwa local government area for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl and inflicting injuries on her.
A statement by the Command Police Public Relation Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, made available to journalists in Damaturu on Monday, explained that “On February 15, 2025, at about 15: 30hrs, Tarmuwa Divisional Police Headquarters apprehended Bawa Saidu (22) and Weti Saleh (25) of Jalingo Village, Tarmuwa LGA.”
The PPRO added that the suspects conspired and gang-raped a 12-year-old girl, inflicting serious injuries on her.

He said the victim received immediate medical attention, while the suspects were transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Damaturu for further investigation.
According to the statement, “In a separate incident, Gujba Divisional Police Headquarters collaborated with vigilantes to rescue Hassan Alh Yau, 15, of Kojolo Hamlet, Dadawel Village.
“The victim was kidnapped on February 12, 2025, by criminal elements demanding a ransom.
“The successful rescue operation resulted in the recovery of dangerous weapons, including a single-barrel gun.
“As security strengthens in Damaturu, the state capital, some miscreants were apprehended using an uncompleted building to conceal stolen properties”.
He noted that the Commissioner of Police, CP Garba Ahmed, commended the efforts of the Command, reiterating its sustained commitment to fighting criminal elements in the state.
