Police arrest wheelbarrow pusher over lover’s death
A wheelbarrow pusher, identified simply as Peter, has been apprehended by detectives from the Nkpolu Police Division, Mile 3 Diobu, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, following the death of his female lover, popularly known as Mummy.
Mummy, who hailed from Ogoni in Rivers State, was a trader selling perishable food items along Bishop Okoye Street. According to reports, she had visited Peter, who is from Benue State, on Thursday night and spent the night at his residence.
However, tragedy struck the next morning when Peter discovered Mummy’s lifeless body. In a panic, he raised an alarm, drawing the attention of neighbours. Concerned by the turn of events, the neighbours contacted the police, who arrived promptly at the scene.

A resident in the area revealed that the police conducted an on-the-spot assessment, arrested Peter as the prime suspect, and took custody of the deceased’s body. The cause of death has yet to be determined, leaving many in the community anxious for answers.
The Rivers State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident, stating: “The suspect has been arrested, and investigations are ongoing.”
The tragic death of the young woman has sparked concern and speculation within the community, with many expressing shock and sadness. The police are expected to release further details as their investigation progresses.
