Yahaya Adamu of RinJin Yadi Village, Kabo local government area and Nasiru Haruna of Barbaji village Rogo local government area of Kano state have been arrested for manufacturing and selling fake fertilizer to farmers in the state.
They were arrested at No.129, Murtala Muhammed Way, Gashash house, where they were found manufacturing the product.
Neptune Prime’s correspondent in Kano reports that they were mixing the components of fertilizer with a large quantity of sand (Lamso) to obtain an adulterated version which they packaged inside genuine fertilizer bags produced by the federal government, in conjunction with Kano State Government-owned fertilizer
company (KASCO).
The original products are sold for N5,500, but the suspects sell the adulterated version to unsuspecting farmers N6,500 and N7,000 per bag.
The suspects confessed to the crime, and the police have continued investigations to arrest their accomplices.
