Police ban personnel from wearing dark glasses with uniform, warn of sanctions for violators
The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun has given an order to police personnel to immediately refrain from wearing dark glasses while in uniform.
The directive which is with immediate effect is contained in a wireless message dated Tuesday, January 21, 2025, and addressed to all zonal and state commands in the police force.
The police wireless message titled CB:4001/IGP.SEC/ABJ/VOL.121/104 was obtained by SaharaReporters on Thursday.
The police authorities said violation of the direction will attract severe sanctions.
It reads: INGENPOL has observed with concern x prevalent practice of personnel wearing dark glasses while in uniform x this attitude reflects poorly on the Force x deemed unacceptable x consequently x INGENPOL directs that henceforth x all police personnel x should refrain from wearing dark glasses x while in uniform x violation of this directive will attract severe disciplinary action x you are to make this subject of lecture x.
