Edo Police Launch Manhunt for Man Accused of Attacking Girlfriend With Acid

The Edo State Police Command says it has intensified efforts to track down one Timothy Gilbert, who allegedly poured acid on his 40-year-old girlfriend, Angela Ogah, in Ihovbe Quarters, Ikpoba Hill.

Police spokesperson Moses Yamu confirmed the incident on Wednesday, noting that the suspect fled immediately after the attack. He assured that the command is committed to apprehending Gilbert and bringing him to justice.

Yamu explained that the pair had reportedly been having repeated disputes over allegations of infidelity. He advised the public to walk away from toxic relationships rather than remain in abusive situations.

The victim, now receiving treatment in a private hospital, is said to be in critical condition. Her lawyer, John Izegaegbe, revealed that a petition has been filed before the State Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, urging immediate action.
