Two police officers killed as armed bandits ambush patrol team in Bauchi

Two police officers lost their lives on Saturday after a patrol team was ambushed by heavily armed bandits in Sabon Sara village, Bauchi State.
According to a statement by police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin, the officers were on a routine visibility patrol intended to reassure residents when the attackers opened fire on them. The patrol team comprised personnel from the Rapid Response Squad, the Police Mobile Force, and the State Intelligence Department.
One officer sustained injuries during the attack and is currently receiving medical attention. Hundeyin added that security agencies have launched a coordinated operation to track down the perpetrators.

He emphasized that despite the tragic loss of officers, the police remain committed to safeguarding lives and property.
The incident adds to a growing wave of insecurity in recent weeks. Over 300 students were abducted from a Catholic school in Niger State, while 24 Muslim students were taken from another school in Kebbi State. In a separate attack, armed assailants stormed a church in Kwara State and kidnapped several worshippers. None of the abducted victims have been rescued yet.
