Police confirm abduction of former NFF secretary-general, Sani Toro, 2 others

The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of Alhaji Sani Ahmed Toro, a former Secretary-General of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and two others.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ahmed Wakil, while confirming the abduction on Sunday, June 19, 2022 in Bauchi, said he was not privy to the full details of the incident as it happened outside his state.

It was reported last night that Toro, Garba Yila and Alhaji Isah Jah were kidnapped on their way from Abuja to Bauchi after they attended the wedding ceremony of the son of former NFF President, Aminu Maigari on Saturday.

The District Head of Lame Sarkin Yakin Bauchi, Alhaji Ali Yakubu Lame, who is also the leader of the traditional rulers in Toro said, they were shocked when they received the news of the abduction of the three sons of Bauchi state.

According to Alhaji Lame, the abductors were five in the vehicle, shot one Tijjani on his leg left him behind alongside Alhaji Mijinyawa because he is sick, but they took Sani Toro, Garba Yila and Alhaji Isah Jah.

The district head while praying for their safe return appealed to members of the public to continue to pray for peace and stability in the country, and asked people to support the security agencies with useful information that will led to the arrest of the criminals.

He however lamented on the spate of insecurity in the country appealing to the federal government to do the needful in restoring sanity to the country.
