Police confirms death of cadet Sulaiman

The Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC) in Wudil, Kano State, has confirmed the death of one of its cadets, Mr. Sulaiman Jika, who died on Saturday.
Jika took ill unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 29 and was admitted at the academy clinic where he was given treatment.
Few days later, Jika was certified fit, discharged and was advised for regular checks.

Jika who returned to the clinic was readmitted for further examination after complaining of restlessness and it was at that period he died.
“The Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC) is deeply saddened to announce the passing of one of its cherished cadets, Mr. Sulaiman Jika, who succumbed to a brief and unexpected illness,” ASP Hussain Suleman, Police Public Relations Officer, POLAC) Wudil, Kano said.
“Jika, a dedicated cadet from the Department of Computer Science, was a proud native of Adamawa state.
“On 29th August, 2023, he sought medical attention at the Academy Clinic due to an ailment. Following a diligent course of treatment and his gradual recovery, he was certified fit and discharged by the Medical Doctor on call the next day, and tasked to return at regular intervals for checks which he adhered to. However, fate took an unforeseen turn.
“On 2nd September 2023, he was once again admitted to the clinic for further examination and care following a complaint of restlessness. Though his vitals were normal upon examination and all necessary medical steps were taken, we regrettably report his untimely passing.”
But in a report by this news website, fellow cadets lamented poor handling of the facility under the management of Assistant Inspector-General Sadiq Abubakar.
The officers alleged that Jika died as a result of prolonged starvation and malnourishment.
They also complained lack of medical supplies and an inadequate healthcare environment.
According to the officers, there have been shortages of food supplies and the quality of meals have been below standard since the assumption of AIG Abubakar.
The officers further complained of being forced to training during lecturers.
Meanwhile, the academy in Kano is yet to respond to the allegations against AIG Abubakar.
