Iran threatens ‘True Promise 5’ operation if Israel launches major strike on Beirut
Iran has warned that any major Israeli attack on Beirut could trigger a new military operation, reportedly dubbed “True Promise 5,” raising fears of a broader regional escalation.
The warning comes amid heightened tensions following Israeli airstrikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs, an area widely regarded as a stronghold of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah. Iranian officials have repeatedly stated that the security of Lebanon is closely linked to the wider regional conflict and have warned that further attacks on the Lebanese capital could provoke a direct response.

According to Iranian officials, any large-scale assault on Beirut would be viewed as a serious escalation and could lead to renewed military action against Israeli targets. Tehran has also warned that continued attacks in Lebanon threaten ongoing diplomatic efforts and ceasefire negotiations in the region.
The latest threat follows Israeli strikes on southern Beirut on Sunday, which killed and injured several people and intensified concerns about the possibility of a wider conflict involving Iran, Hezbollah, Israel, and other regional actors.
Iran has previously used the “True Promise” designation for major retaliatory military operations, making references to a potential “True Promise 5” particularly significant amid the current crisis.
Regional and international observers have expressed concern that further escalation in Lebanon could undermine ongoing diplomatic initiatives and increase the risk of a broader Middle East conflict.
