The spokesman for the command, Ahmed Rufai, disclosed this while speaking with our correspondent on Friday.

According to Rufai, the worshippers were abducted during (Subhi) Muslim early morning prayer, stating that the police have launched a rescue operation to secure the release of the victims.

A member of the state House of Assembly, representing the community, Sa’idu Ibrahim, also confirmed the attack.

He stated that the quick intervention of the troops of Operation Fasan Yamma, was the saving grace that helped in limiting the number of persons abducted.

A local source who spoke with our correspondent on the telephone said the gunmen had been molesting the people of the community even with the presence of security agents.
