Police present N22.7 million cheques to families of deceased personnel in Nasarawa

The Nigerian Police has presented cheques of 22.7 million nairas to families of deceased personnel in Nasarawa State.

The spokesperson of the command, ASP Ramhan Nansel said in a statement that the Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa, Adesina Soyemi, has on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali presented cheques worth twenty-two million, seven hundred and twenty-six thousand, nine hundred nairas and eighty-three kobo (22,726,926,83k) to 15 families of deceased police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

IGP Group Life Assurance and the police urged the families of deceased officers to make good use of the money.

The statement added that “the gesture is an initiative of the Inspector- General of Police (IGP)’s Group Life Assurance, aimed at supporting the families of deceased police officers who died in active service. It is also aimed at boosting the morale of all police officers in the country in order to spur them to do more in protecting the territorial integrity of Nigeria, thereby, reclaiming public space from criminal elements, as their welfare is of utmost importance to the current administration of the Force.”

While presenting the cheques, the Commissioner of Police thanked the IGP for his tireless efforts geared towards ensuring an enduring welfare package for all police personnel.

The police said that it is aimed at ameliorating the needs of the deceased’s dependants.

The beneficiaries were thankful for the police hierarchy and promised to make judicious use of the money.
