Police raid kidnappers’ den, rescue 6 abducted UNIJOS students

In a significant breakthrough, the Plateau State Police Command has successfully rescued six out of the seven students from the University of Jos that were kidnapped by armed bandits earlier this week.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Alfred Alabo, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Friday in Jos.
The students were said to be abducted from their off-campus hostel on Monday night in Jos while preparing for their second-semester examinations.
According to Alabo, diligent efforts by the police force led to the rescue of five students, while one managed to escape unharmed from the kidnappers’ den.
He said the command swiftly sprang into action following the report of the incident, working in collaboration with the Anti-Kidnapping unit, the victims’ family members, and the local community to secure the release of the abducted students.
“Five of the victims were successfully rescued, one escaped from the kidnappers’ den, while one student remains in captivity,” Alabo stated.
He further revealed that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Bartholomew Onyeka, has issued directives to the Area Commander Metro and the Divisional Police Officer Nasarawa Gwong to ensure the safe rescue of the seventh victim and the apprehension of the perpetrators.
