50% Tractor Hire Discount: Amb. Fatima Paga commends Gov. Buni, seeks greater access for women farmers

Amb. Fatima Paga, Focal Person, UN Women, and a gender activist has commended Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State for approving a 50% discount on tractor hiring for farm clearing, urging relevant ministries, departments, and agencies to put in place clear and accessible modalities that will enable women farmers across the state to benefit from the scheme.
Amb. Paga hailed the initiative that’s aimed at supporting farmers, increasing agricultural productivity, and enhancing food security across Yobe State and Nigeria at large.
She maintains that ensuring equitable access for women will further promote inclusive development, strengthen rural livelihoods, and align with the administration’s commitment to empowering all segments of society.

On Wednesday, Governor Buni approved a sharp reduction in tractor hiring costs, cutting the price from ₦100,000 to ₦50,000.
The announcement was made by the Acting Secretary to the State Government, Dr Mohammed Goje, who described the move as part of the administration’s broader strategy to reduce financial pressure on farmers and drive agricultural productivity.
