Policeman shot to death by girlfriend using his rifle
In a distressing incident, Cosmas Ugwu, a policeman serving with the Imo State Police Command, has lost his life after he was fatally shot by his 23-year-old girlfriend, Amanda Uchechi Ugo.
The shocking event occurred at the Ezinihitte Area Command around 6:30 pm on Boxing Day.
Officers on duty heard three gunshots from the room occupied by Corporal Ugwu, prompting an immediate investigation. The officer was discovered lying in a pool of blood, having been shot three times in the chest and left hand by his girlfriend.
“Nobody actually knows what went wrong between the two, but how the girl was able to use a police rifle successfully is still a surprise to many. Maybe, Ugwu was the one who taught her,” a source revealed.
Corporal Ugwu was rushed to Evergreen Hospital in Ezinihitte, where he was pronounced dead.

“When police officers ran into the room to see what was going on, they found Corporal Ugwu lying in the pool of his blood. The girl shot him three times on his chest and his left hand,” the source added.
The deceased’s remains have been deposited at the Obizi mortuary, while investigation is ongoing.
The suspect, Amanda Uchechi Ugo, is presently in police custody for interrogation and potential prosecution.
Police Public Relations Officer in Imo State, Henry Okoye, confirmed the incident, assuring that the police are actively investigating the matter to establish the facts and bring the suspect to justice.
