Human Rights Activist and Senator who represented Kaduna Central in the Red Chamber from 2015 to 2019, Comrade Shehu Sani, has condemned the publishers of Sahara Online Newspapers for allowing their medium to be used by Afenifere to insult the person of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
Shehu Sani, in a powerful statement, condemned Afenifere Chieftain, Taye Ajayi, who made a blasphemous statement which was published by Sahara Reporters. He said it was disgusting and totally provocative to even compare the likes of Sunday Igboho’s plight with what happened to the Holy Prophet of Islam.
The Afenifere, according to Shehu Sani, must tender an unreserved apology to the Muslim Ummah for such acts of irresponsible statements because, since it appeared on that medium, it will circulate to the entire world and this can cause ugly reactions from responsible quarters.
“Nothing is more important and sacrosanct to the Muslim Ummah than preserving, defending and upholding the pious name of our Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W),” he said.
Though publishers of Sahara Reporters have tendered an unreserved apology to Muslims all over the world and also removed the said statement by Afenifere Chieftain from their website, tension is still high among those who feel that going by the activities of the publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoleye Sawore, over the years, the publication was deliberately done to embarrass Muslims.
