Qatar turns hotel room used by Lionel Messi into museum

Barely one week after the successful hosting of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the Arab country has decided to turn the hotel room used by Lionel Messi into a mini museum.

According to the Qatari news agency (QNA) the hotel room Messi later shared with his lifelong friend and colleague Sergio Aguero towards the end of Argentina’s triumphant World Cup campaign, will no longer receive guests.

Some of the items Messi left behind will also be added to the mini museum which will be accessible to students and other visitors.

Hitmi al Hitmi, Director of communications and public relations at Qatar University, told Qatari newspaper Al Sharq, “The room of Argentina national team player Lionel Messi will remain unchanged and will remain available only for visitors and not for residence.

“Messi’s belongings and will be a legacy for students and future generations and a witness to the great achievements Messi has reached during the World Cup.”

Recall that Messi was adorned a robe by the Qatari leader during the trophy presentation, many believed the robe is a sign of honour for the Argentine great.
