Rapper Lil Pump banned from US airline JetBlue after refusing to wear mask

Rapper Lil Pump has reportedly been banned from flying with US airline JetBlue after he allegedly refused to wear a mask while on board.

According to reports from TMZ, the Gucci Gang star was flying from Fort Lauderdale to Los Angeles on Boxing Day when he became “verbally abusive with crew members, and also took off his face covering mid-flight”, failing to put it back on when he was asked to.

The site also claims the captain detailed the incident in correspondence from the flight deck, in which he says Lil Pump was ‘non-compliant with the mask policy’ before ‘sneezing and coughing into a blanket’ without a mask on.

The last note from the captain says the rapper did eventually put his mask back on, but representatives for JetBlue have since said he is no longer welcome on board the budget airline.

JetBlue spokesperson Derek Dombrowski told USA Today: “His return reservation was cancelled and he is no longer welcome to fly on JetBlue. The safety of all customers and crewmembers is JetBlue’s first priority.”

After the incident, Lil Pump posted and then deleted a video of him ranting about the airline, saying: ‘F**k JetBlue and f**k everybody that working there n****. Y’all b***hes are bums.  ‘All 2020-21, I ain’t wearing no mask. I don’t gotta wear no f**king mask b***h. Corona’s fake. Bye!”

The 20-year-old, whose real name is Gazzy Garcia, has not posted any further comments about the incident on his social media accounts.

JetBlue has had strict COVID-safe policies since the start of the pandemic, being one of the first airlines to require all passengers ages two years old and above to wear a mask during check-in, boarding, and the duration of the flight from 4 May.
