Insecurity: State governor bans keke, specific hairstyle

The Niger State Government has banned the operation of commercial motorcycles and tricycles as a strategic measure to combat insecurity in the state.

In a statement released during a stakeholders’ meeting, the state governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, placed a curfew on commercial motorcycles, popularly known as Okada and it’s operations in the state capital, Minna from 6 pm to 6 am daily.

While emphasising on the recent deaths and killings in the state, he said anyone found with weapons would be arrested and treated as an armed robber.

“Only those on serious medical duties are exempted from the ban on Okada and Keke NAPEP movements.

Governor Bago also ordered the arrest of anyone with dreadlocks in the state, stating that their head should be shaved, and a fine imposed on them.

The governor added that the lives and safety of the Niger State residents is his priority, and anyone found guilty, would face the wrath of the law.

“It is going to be 100 per cent enforcement that is fire for fire as enough is enough,” he added.
