S/Falcons knocked out of FWWC after 4-2 loss to England on penalties
Nigeria’s Super Falcons have been knocked out of the FIFA Women’s World Cup after losing 4-2 on penalties to England on Monday.
The game was decided on penalty shootout after both teams played a goalless draw in 90 minutes before heading to extra time where no goals were scored.

The Super Falcons gave the Lionesses of England the advantage after missing their first two shootouts taken by Desire Oparanozie and Michelle Alozie.
Although, England did their first kick as Georgia Stanway fired the ball over the cross bar.
Despite Rashidat Ajibade and Christy Ucheibe’s conversion of their kicks they needed England to miss their next kick but that did not happen as Rachel Daly’s conversion paved the way for Alex Greenwood and Chloe Kelly’s decider to give the Lionesses the victory which ended 4-2.
Monday’s defeat for the Super Falcons means the second Africa’s representatives are out of the tournament with Morocco left.
On Sunday, South Africa failed to secure their quarter final slot after losing 2-0 to the Netherlands.
The Super Falcons qualification for the Round of 16 was their first after nine consecutive appearances and England penalty shootout victory would be their first since their debut in 1995.
