Saudi Arabia airlifts Nigerian conjoined twins for surgery

The custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, has directed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to airlift Nigerian conjoined twins for surgery and separation in Riyadh.

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSARelief) will facilitate the complex surgical separation of Hassana and Husaina Hassan Isa, who are joined at the chest and share vital organs, making their separation a medically intricate and challenging procedure.

The Saudi embassy has said that the story has captured the hearts of millions worldwide, drawing attention to the urgent need for specialized medical attention.

KSARelief, in collaboration with Saudi Arabia’s team of renowned surgeons and medical professionals, will provide these children with the opportunity for a brighter and healthier future.

“The surgery, scheduled to take place at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh, will mark a groundbreaking moment in the field of pediatric surgery.

“The conjoined twins will undergo thorough medical evaluation, and a team of experts including; pediatric surgeons, anesthesiologists and nurses, have been assembled to oversee the entire process.

“The twin’s family will be accommodated in Riyadh, and a support system will be in place to provide comfort and assistance throughout the journey,” the embassy stated.

Saudi Arabia’s commitment to humanitarian causes and its dedication to helping those in need, regardless of their nationality or background, is evident in this initiative.

According to Daily Trust, the Saudi Conjoined Twins Programme has reviewed 133 sets of conjoined twins referred from 24 countries since its inception in 1990, and the Saudi programme has successfully separated 59 sets of twins.

The Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, his Deputy, Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo and other cabinet members witnessed the airlift of the conjoined twins at the VIP section of the Aminu Kano International Airport.

The governor wished them a successful surgery and a quick recovery.
