Senate swears in Natasha Akpoti as Kogi Central senator

Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has been sworn in as the new senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District by Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, during plenary on Thursday.

The Clerk of the Senate, Mr. Chinedu Akubueze administered the oath of office to her.

After taking the oath, Akpoti-Uduaghan was given a copy of the Senate Standing Rules by Akpabio and later led to her seat by the Sergeant at Arms after exchanging pleasantries with her colleagues.

The Court of Appeal, Abuja division asserted on Monday that Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was the duly elected candidate for Kogi Central, dismissing the appeal filed by Senator Abubakar Ohere on the ground of meritless claims.

Earlier in September, the Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal declared that Akpoti-Uduaghan was the actual winner of the senatorial poll and nullified the victory of Ohere of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
