The Senator Representing Borno South Mohammed Ali Ndume has presented two tricycles and an undisclosed amount of money to internally displaced persons of Gwoza Local government currently taking refuge at Bakassi Camp in Maiduguri.
While addressing the people, the Senator emphasised that they should always be self-reliant and commended them for their patience.
“As you all know, people of Gwoza are very responsible and have moral background, I want you to maintain the tempo at this camp.”
He also advised them to respect the constituted authorities in and outside the camp.
In the case of an emergency, such as conveying pregnant women to hospitals, Ndume explained that the tricycles would be useful.
The member representing Gwoza, Chibok and Damboa also donated Golf and some cash to the IDPs.
The federal lawmaker urged the displaced people to be patient and assured them of his support at all times.
The IDPs staged a protest at the camp on Tuesday over lack of food and maltreatment before senator Ndume intervened and control the uproar.
Senator Ndume is still serving six months suspension by the senate.
