“She aroused me”, said 47-year-old who defiled 15-year-old girl

A 47-year old man, Chinedu Ihekwumere, arrested for sleeping with a 15-year old girl has admitted that he slept with her after she pressed her breasts on him and he got aroused in the process.

The incident happened at Lawani Street, Olodi-Apapa area of Lagos State, where they reside.

The act has landed Ihekwumere in trouble as he was arrested by the Police.

The Police alleged that the suspect lured the victim into his apartment where he reportedly engaged her in sex and the act was later leaked to her parents, who then reported to the Police claiming that their daughter was raped by Ihekwumere.

Hence, he was arrested and later transferred to the Gender Section of the Police Command for further investigation.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted that he slept with her after she aroused him by pressing her breasts on him. He also revealed that he penetrated her freely and it showed it was not her first time and so he did not defile her.

However, the Police found him culpable because of the age of the girl and later charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.

The Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Mr. Christopher John, asked the Court to refer the matter to the (DPP) for advice because the victim was still a minor.

Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr P.E. Nwaka, ordered him to be remanded in prison custody without an option of bail and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the (DPP) for advice.

The matter was adjourned till 20 March 2020 for a report of the (DPP’s) advice to be available in order to determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not.
