Soldiers in gun battle with Boko Haram terrorists in Borno town, Malam Fatori

Troops of the Nigerian Army are currently in a gun battle with Boko Haram terrorists in Malam Fatori, Abadam Local Goverment Area, Borno State.

The town was said to have been sieged by the insurgents on Friday evening.

According to reports, Malam Fatori is one of the two LGAs without human activities where Governor Babagana Zulum had insisted on returning displaced persons by December 31, 2021.

On the planed return, about 500 mobile police personnel were said to have been deployed to clear the town where 1,000 refugees from Niger Republic will be residing.

Also, an army base has been stationed in the deserted town including the presence of other security agents such as the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and Department of State Services (DSS) and the civilian Joint Taskforce (JTF) to help in securing the town for the safe return of the refugees.

The mobile police crack team have since abandoned the town and returned to Maiduguri while the military personnel are still there.
