Story from Kenneth AFOR, Lagos
Gosiame Sithole, a 37-year-old South African woman has broken the Guinness World Records after she gave birth to 10 babies in one day on Monday, according to reports.
Sithole gave birth to seven boys and three girls breaking the record once held by a Malian woman, Halima Cisse, who gave birth to nine children last month in Morocco.
According to local media, Sithole’s babies came through a cesarean operation.
It was gathered that both she and her husband were expecting eight babies but to their surprise, two was added.
The husband noted that his wife did not have any fertility treatment saying that the pregnancy was natural.
“It’s seven boys and three girls. She was seven months and seven days pregnant. I am happy. I am emotional, I can’t talk much. Let’s talk much again in the morning please,” Tsotesi said.
Sithole who spoke about her pregnancy last month said, “I am shocked about my pregnancy, it was tough at the beginning.
“I was sick. It was hard for me. It’s still tough but I am used to it now. I don’t feel the pain anymore, but it’s still a bit tough.
“I just pray for God to help me deliver all my children in a healthy condition, and for me and my children to come out alive. I would be pleased about it.”
The couple has already given birth to six-year-old twins.
