Super Eagles striker Awoniyi out of induced coma

Nottingham Forest’s Taiwo Awoniyi is out of an induced coma, according to Mail Sport on Thursday.

The 27-year-old is now in recovery after undergoing an emergency operation on a serious abdominal injury that could have been fatal.

Awoniyi was receiving intensive care on Wednesday night after surgeons had started what was a complex operation.

The news led to fans and pundits expressing their worry and also praying for Awoniyi’s recovery.

The procedure has now been completed as planned, and the Super Eagles striker was last night being monitored at hospital.

However, Awoniyi is awake following the surgery and is surrounded by his family.
Awoniyi had crashed into the post during Forest’s 2-2 draw with Leicester City last weekend.

Following several minutes of treatment, he bravely continued playing before he was eventually taken off.
